Taking time off from Blogging!

I think it's time to kinda let go of my blog a little. I don't seem to have the excitement about posting anything. And I'm not doing the effort whatsoever. So I am feeling bad leaving the last post as "sneaking a post from class". So I write this post to tell you guys! keep blogging, I'll keep reading. But I think I'm stopping. Until further notice I guess...
Kisses to all. Thanks for having checked in from time to time.

I'm sneaking in a Post from Class!

I'm back in Class, for 3 days only and I guess I'm half way done.
Was just in Lebanon for the weekend! I kinda wish I was still there. You always really start realizing that you ARE in Lebanon the moment you are driving back to the airport. And that's what happened, we were driving back our tiny Yaris, among the crazy traffic, when the music on the radio was getting better and better by the song! I think some tears could've fallen at that moment! (ok just kidding). In any case, it was an amazing trip. Good friends, Amazing partner in crime! and 3 new places I discovered. L'o, Eight and Metis. L'o had amazing food you should all try it. Ok I should get back to my class... I'll try posting later if I get too bored, and manage to be discreet.

The Unexpected gift!

You are going about your normal business, then out of the blue, a friend offers you something. Not just anything but something you had been looking for and couldn't find. In complete surprise, I guess I just didn't know what to say.

In any case, to me a surprise, a gift, when it is the least expected, offered to you by a friend that took a moment to think of you, means alot to me. Specifically because there is no occasion for it, but by simple caring.

I received a Rubik's cube from my friend Fonz, who knew I couldn't find it anywhere. And I just want to say yet again! extremely thoughtful, extremely caring, and and and ...and I absolutely adored it!

Kisses.

The Edge of Mind.

You find yourself standing on the edge. You’re not sure how you got there. You’re driving under the trees one day, and the next thing you see, that edge, starring at you. Was it unconscious, were you meant to be standing here, alone?

It’s not very dark out, the sun is simply setting. The weather is also warm; you’re not uncomfortable, but the water under you looks so cold.

You’re still not sure what you are standing there for, you’re still not sure how. With the dizziness you are feeling at that moment, nothing seems to make sense. You’re not supposed to be standing there. Destiny isn’t supposed to be this way, and you certainly don’t want to be here.

You breath in, and your heart warms up, you realize, regardless of that edge, your heart is still living, your heart is still beating, and it’s still warming up at that thought. You might jump; and your heart is what will save you; it is what will save you from the cold water. It might not get you back up on that edge, but it will let you survive the jump, the cold, and let you live another day, simply to hear your heart beat again.

You’re on the edge, still wondering how. Feeling so alone. Then you look down at the water, a reflection is starring back at you. You’re not alone; you’re standing right there with you soul. Is it really there, is that truly your soul looking you in your eyes. “Why are you here with me? Why weren’t you stronger than me, to lead me to the road of secure grounds? Why are we on this edge together?” You kept starring at it, and then it whispered that there was no reason for being here. It was one road, one road in your lifetime. One road that led to this moment. A protection, from falling off something bigger.

You’re in confusion, your tears are running down your cheeks, begging your heart to save you from jumping, begging your soul to being stronger than the unknown. You’re begging your mind to follow your heart and soul.
This is one edge your mind didn’t think of, this is one edge your mind didn’t fully comprehend. Your thoughts lost, and the only way out is to breath, for your heart to stay warm, to save you from that edge.

Only to make you stronger for the next unexpected road.

Only to help you have faith in your heart and soul.

Dead Bird in our garden!

Mom just messaged me "there's a dead bird in the garden". She has been freaking out about the bird flu in Kuwait, and now there's a dead bird in the garden. She didn't touch it. She called 777, and they told her not to touch the bird at all. Took our address, and gave my mom two numbers to call, which are both not working!!!. the numbers are 885020 and 4737615. Both have been engaged since. She called back 777 told them it's engaged, they said they will inform them. She doesn't trust them, and she's just freaking out! It's actually a scary thought that it's in our garden! I'm not sure what we are going to do now. Will keep calling the number, and see what is next.

Update 2: Sorry about last information, I asked again exactly waht happened, it seems they picked up the bird, and are taking it for testing they said they will call if there is anything.

Lunar Eclipse.

So they say, there's a lunar eclipse tonight. It will start at 2018 GMT which is 2318 here in Kuwait. Though on 99.7 this morning they said it would start at 2AM, maybe they mean would be the most visible around that time. Nasa says Kuwait is a country that will have full visibility of the eclipse. So if you want to see the moon turn reddish tonight, stay up a little late. It is said that a lunar eclipse can be a very romantic experience. So Enjoy!

Valentine's Day

So It's coming up soon, and yes it's an amazing day for some people, a weird one of others, and an ugly one for many :P. In Any case, I still thought it might be fun, if we went a little back in time and tell you some stories about the history of Valentine's Day.

First of all, Valentine's Day is named after Saint Valentine or Saint Valentinus, which refers to one or more martyred saints of ancient Rome. The feast of Saint Valentine was formerly celebrated on February 14 by the Roman Catholic Church.

About the Month of February:

- In ancient Athens, the month of Gamelion (between mid-January and mid-February ) was dedicated to the sacred marriage of Zeus and Hera.

-In ancient Rome, Lupercalia observed a very ancient pastoral festival, held on February 15 to avert evil spirits and purify the city, releasing health and fertility. Plutarch, a Greek historian wrote:
"Lupercalia, of which many write that it was anciently celebrated by shepherds, and has also some connection with the Arcadian Lycaea. At this time many of the noble youths and of the magistrates run up and down through the city naked, for sport and laughter striking those they meet with shaggy thongs. And many women of rank also purposely get in their way, and like children at school present their hands to be struck, believing that the pregnant will thus be helped in delivery, and the barren to pregnancy."

Then came Chaucer's Love Birds:

An English poet Geoffrey Chaucer was the first to link Valentine's day and romance threw his poetry. He wrote:
" For this was on seynt Volantynys day
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese
[chose] his make [mate]."

In Modern times:

Using the language of the law courts for the rituals of courtly love, a "High Court of Love" was established in Paris on Valentine's Day in 1400. The court dealt with love contracts, betrayals, and violence against women. Judges were selected by women on the basis of a poetry reading.

Valentine Traditions

Hundreds of years ago in England, many children dressed up as adults on Valentine's Day. They went singing from home to home. One verse they sang was:

Good morning to you, valentine;
Curl your locks as I do mine ---
Two before and three behind.
Good morning to you, valentine.

In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favorite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"

In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him.

Some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire.

Balancing life.

I know I'm not posting much, But I thought tonight I'd write something about my life, or more specifically about the way I am when it comes to certain things in life. I was having coffee with some friends, when someone said; I'm very contradictory, among other things. In any case, I thought I would try to talk a little about how I try my best to balance things out in life.
We spend every day, learning something new, discovery something new, whether it being about the way ppl do business on the other side of the planet, or something new about a friend's personality or anything really. Life is just about taking things around you and knowing how to appreciate them. Personally, I tend to sometimes be very disconnected, and the next day very emotional, I can be very hyper and then very calm. I'm actually full of contradictions. But I take them and I appreciate them. See there isn't one person on earth that is the same as the other, and there isn't anyone that is better then the other. There are just people that enjoy everything they go threw in life. And my contradictions, keep my life interesting. Today I feel like a green Apple, Tomorrow, I'm not sure I will like it so much. But so what!, I mean I will enjoy the apple today and tomorrow I'll enjoy something else. But keep in mind, I entertain these contradictions, when they don't affect my life in drastic ways, and don't affect ppl around me in drastic ways. When someone stops, thinks, and takes a decision in life, You have to think of everything, and these contradictions within you, make you capable of taking the right decision, so I entertain them, but I try my best to only entertain them at my expense, and not at the expense of others. On a more serious note, the most amazing thing about these contradictions, is that I have the ability to feel different kinds of things for one same thing, and the balancing act of it, is what I enjoy the most. Its the moment I was able to feel it all and then find my peace and appreciate it. It can be about changing jobs, changing countries or changing the color of your room. Finding the balance is amazing, but going threw the contradictions, is what makes it something to remember. In any case, I will not bore you more with this issue. But I wish you all to tilt one way then all the way to the other, and eventually find your balance. Even if you balance and imbalance every single day. At the end of the day all that matters is good energy around you. Good karma, and eventually a content and happy life. Night everyone!

Camel sacrifice at Istanbul Airport!

"To mark the last delivery of 100 aircraft, maintenance workers clubbed together to buy the beast - and then consume it."

"The camel was sacrificed Tuesday at Istanbul's Ataturk airport and about 1,540 pounds of meat was distributed among the staff. "

I mean how primitive can some people get... Poor Camel.

Internet is BACK!

I woke up this morning and the internet wasn't working at home, I didn't give it much thought since I was rushing to make it to the gym on time (which I did ;) ) I arrived back from work, and still the internet wasn't working, I shut everything down, removed all electricity connections, tried everything and it just would'nt budge, and the waiting list on quality net was getting on my last nerve. Anywyas, they jsut fixed it, I've been without internet since 4 pm. It has only been 3 hours, but my god how it felt so much longer. I just started getting anxious for no reason, as if the internet was never coming back. Anyways, it's just really weird how much we depend on our internet, and our technologies, when I can still remember the day cell phones weren't around. In all cases, I feel much better now that I'm connected again !

Early Morning Gym!

I don't know how I finally did it. I've been wanting to try and wake up early to go to the gym before work, see if I can turn my routine into morning gym. I tried yesterday, of course didn't work. I mean one extra hour of sleep or GYM! it wasn't a hard decision. Last night I went to bed with the state of mind that I'll try harder this morning. This morning came, 5.45 they come in my room to wake me up, I slightly made a noise in agreement, and the next thing you know I'm falling back asleep under my warm amazing covers. Then, mom walked into my room. I had been telling her that I wanted to try and wake up early, so she came in started talking talking talking till I got out of bed, she removed my covers that made me freeze my ass off, BUT it worked... I finally gave up. Took my work cloth, everything I use in the morning to get ready, put my gym cloth on and off I was. It was 6.15 AM and it's still dark out, was one of the few ppl on the streets. Kinda depressing. But once the work out was done, and the sun was coming up, the shower was over and I was on my way to work, you realize how refreshed you are feeling! And more importantly how waking up an hour earlier in the morning can make so much of a difference. So a demain GYM! ;)

Rainy Weekend.

I really wanted to see sun this weekend, I'm not sure why since It's not like I can go tan or anything. But it rained all weekend, and I actually didn't mind it that much, it turned out to be a nice relaxing weekend. Wednesday after work, took my car service, I got back home ate and went to Ikea, I like the new Ikea... it's big , much less crowded then the old Ikea and so you feel like you can go walk around for hours. Got myself some new stuff for my room, and wanted much more! but can't really spend a fortune right now, since I did that with everything I had when I was in Montreal. Anyways Wednesday night, a last minute plan came together, to chill at a friends house over some nice card game. left the night with a little less then what I can in with. It's ok one less lunch during the week ;) Thursday I spent the day lost in Shuwaikh! I hate Shuwaikh, I never ever remember were anything is! I don't know why, I actually go there often, but i think I always arrive to my destination by mistake, and if I stop and think about were I'm going, I just get too lost to get there. I wanted to go check out Mac, see what they had, and maybe by some miracle I might've found the iTv, but like I said, spent the day pretty much lost, and so I never made it to Mac. At night I had a nice party, saw lots of friends since before the holidays, and I think it was an "OH no way, I really am back in Kuwait, Hey Hi! what's up, haven't seen you since, how was your vacation?" thing. It was nice to see them, but I'm not sure I was very happy to be back in Kuwait. Well that was it. Friday was the usual chill day. Hope you all had a nice rainy weekend. :)

Christmas and New Year

Happy New Year Everyone! Last year ended in a weird way, wasn't in the mood of much, I was even wondering why I was taking a Christmas vacation in the first place. The next thing I know I was on that long plane ride to Montreal, and I arrived to a country which was a little too warm for this time of year! That started of my trip pretty nicely. Then this unexpected vacation started turning into a much needed "good times to remember" trip. I had the best time in a while, in Canada. I arrived to our apartment and my sister had a gorgeous tree all decorated, the door was decorated, Christmas touches everywhere, it was so refreshing, I don't think I had ever seen our apartment decorated for Christmas, given that every year we came back to Kuwait. The next thing you know, we were on the train, on our way to Windsor were my grandparents live, my uncle from Toronto joined us and we also had an amazing Christmas with them, which we hadn't done in I don't know how long. Still, Since we had been traveling so much, and I didn't actually get to have one day in Montreal before leaving to Windsor, I hadn't felt like my trip had started yet, all I wanted to do was basically sleep, because the traveling was getting to me. 26th back to Montreal, and that's when things started getting crazy! My cousins were in town, my friends were ready to have a great time, we were basically 6 girls up to no good! We met great ppl, weather was not Canada winter, and New Year was unforgettable.
I had great moments with my brother and sister too, interesting conversation with my brother about what's next. And a lot of things took perspective.
The year 2006 had nice times but it certainly wasn't all great for me, neither was 2005, and on new year's eve we were driving up north, me, my cousin and one of our friends, were riding in the same car in which we let out everything bad about 2006, we just unleashed, and it felt like a great clean up. We are all three feeling pretty good about 2007 ;) (at least we are hoping). All I know is that I'm back in Kuwait, still feeling good about many things in my life, and I'm really looking forward to what's next.
I wish you all, a great year, unforgettable moments, and lots of love.
